Deputy Commander for Cadets

DEPUTY COMMANDER FOR CADETS, WESTOVER COMPOSITE SQUADRON

Captain Jerry Rodgers is the Deputy Commander for Cadets at the Westover Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts.

Since joining Civil Air Patrol in 2001, Capt Rodgers has always been working with cadets. With his origins as a cadet in CAP in Springfield Squadron, he became a Senior Officer in 2010 with Westover Composite Squadron. He began preparing himself for as a leader in the Cadet Program by expediently completing his required training and attended Massachusetts Wing Encampment at Fort Devens, MA from 2010 through 2013 as a Field Training Officer, overseeing the functions of cadet flights at the encampments.

Capt Rodgers’ first local duty position was as the Squadron Leadership Officer from 2011 through 2014 as well as serving as the assistant to the former Deputy Commander for Cadets, Lt Col Claire Belden during the same time period. While serving in this role, he continued to develop his leadership and professional skills by attending the required courses and directing a Mass Wing Squadron Leadership School in October 2013. Capt Rodgers also played key support staff roles in local events such as advisor to the North East Region Color Guard (2011), parade and logistics support, and “Operation Overload” – the squadron’s local toy drive, just to name a few.

Capt Rodgers took on the role of Recruiting Officer from OCT 2016 through JUL 2017 taking advantage of opportunities and revamping the program as he went along.

Capt Rodgers has settled into the role of Deputy Commander for Cadets in JUL 2017.
